May 2008 Monthly Meeting

NAWBO Miami member Dorothee Rubin, Diversified Real Estate Services, visits with special guest speaker Dr. Simeon Djankov, Chief Economist for The World Bank, at the May meeting, held at the Bankers Club in conjunction with South Florida WIT. Dr. Djankov's fascinating talk gave us insights into why 30 countries have been ranked the best place to do business, what happens when governments are open to changes that reduce bureaucratic requirements, and the stifling and often horrific effects of too many regulations.

 

What provoked much conversation among those attending the recent presentation to NAWBO and WIT by World Bank Chief Economist Dr. Simeon Djankov was the revelation that no Latin American country is among the top 30 in the world ranked as great places.
